Deputy Judicial Administrator – Community Relations Director
The Louisiana Supreme Court is seeking a highly skilled individual to lead and manage the Court’s community relations and outreach initiatives. This a senior-level role reporting directly to the Judicial Administrator and supports the Chief Justice, Associate Justices, and various other areas of the Court in fostering effective communication, outreach, and collaboration with government entities, the judiciary, and the public. This is an exceptional opportunity to play a vital role in strengthening the judiciary’s relationship with government institutions and the community.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Direct and oversee a team responsible for community outreach, media relations, and intergovernmental communication.
- Respond on the Court’s behalf to informational requests from media, organizations and individuals.
- Prepare Court publications such as Annual Report.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with executive and legislative officials, local government agencies, and judicial associations.
- Develop and implement public education and outreach programs that enhance understanding of the judiciary.
- Provide technical assistance to judges for local outreach efforts.
- Organize feedback mechanisms to improve public perception and communication with the judiciary.
- Implement a proactive media relations strategy.
- Communicate judicial positions on legislative and policy matters effectively and timely as directed by the Justices.
- Other tasks as directed by the Justices and the Judicial Administrator.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or related fields of study.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible hands-on experience in community relations, intergovernmental relations, or court administration.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral), with experience in public speaking and media relations.
- Proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels in the organization and resolve conflicts.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives.
- Ability to manage staff including hiring, performance management and evaluations as well as resolve staff conflicts or disciplinary actions.
- Knowledge of court administration and political processes a plus.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel as needed for meetings and Court events.
- Availability to work beyond standard hours as required.
