CHIEF DEPUTY JUDICIAL ADMINISTRATOR
The Louisiana Supreme Court’s Office of the Judicial Administrator has an exciting career opportunity for a Chief Deputy Judicial Administrator to perform highly responsible professional legal and judicial administrative work. The Chief Deputy Judicial Administrator is responsible for assisting with the development, coordination, administration and evaluation of policies and programs related to the efficient operation and administration of courts in Louisiana. Work also includes management oversight of several positions responsible for key program areas in the Judicial Administrator’s Office. The Chief Deputy Judicial Administrator serves at the pleasure of the justices of the Louisiana Supreme Court, and works under the direction of the Judicial Administrator, with substantial latitude for using professional judgement and personal discretion within the policy frameworks set by the Supreme Court.
Duties include handling daily operations of the Judicial Administrator’s office including staff supervision, direct supervision of several court programs and Deputies as assigned; providing legal research, reports and documents for various committees under the Judicial Administrator’s supervision. Also assists with enhancing technology, innovation, and data collection within the Judicial Administrator’s Office and the Court; position may serve as the Louisiana Supreme Court’s representative on legislative matters through testimony and informational exchange with legislative committees and stakeholders.
The Chief Deputy Judicial Administrator serves as the Supreme Court’s representative/liaison with outside agencies on administrative matters, as assigned, and maintains ties with the legal community through membership in various professional associations including the American Bar Association, Louisiana Court Administrators Association, and National Association for Court Management. Also contributes to the identification and development of strategies for resolution of sensitive political and organizational issues facing the judiciary in Louisiana. This position also may be asked to undertake public speaking engagements, addressing topics of importance to judges, courts and the legal community at professional association meetings, conferences and other venues.
In general, provides technical, legal, administrative and policy advice and assistance to the Judicial Administrator, Supreme Court Justices, trial courts, and others as assigned. Handles any other tasks or responsibilities as assigned by the Judicial Administrator or Justices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Juris Doctor or master’s degree in judicial, public, or business administration is preferred along with six years of progressively responsible court-related legal/managerial experience.
A bachelor’s degree in related field with minimum ten years of progressively responsible administrative/professional experience including supervisory experience.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in court administration and management.
