Description

The Louisiana Supreme Court Judicial Administrator's Office is seeking a motivated, self-starting Part-Time Student Worker to join the Court Information Technology Division. This position offers hands-on experience providing first-level technical support for computer hardware, Microsoft Office applications, and other technology needs across various court departments while assisting with general IT and administrative functions under the direction of the Director of IT Services. Candidates must be full-time students at an accredited college or university (minimum 12 undergraduate or 9 graduate credit hours) and be available to work 15–30 hours per week during the academic year, with the opportunity for additional hours during school breaks. Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. .

  • Supporting PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, and application software (Windows 11, Microsoft Office 365, WordPerfect Office X8, etc.).
  • Monitoring help desk support requests.
  • Providing end user support at various levels of technical and non-technical staff
  • In addition, students may assist the local IT staff with a variety of projects.

Qualifications:

  • Students must have awareness of the PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, application software and some network troubleshooting.
  • Students must have awareness of the PC Industry’s current and emerging technology trends and direction, as well as a keen interest in computer-based information systems and technology.
  • Interested applicants should possess excellent analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems as well as can research and understand technical documentation, and an understanding of how to apply various technical resources.
  • Ability to perform tasks such as providing operating systems and application software installations and upgrades, virus protection and eradication.
  • Able to interact effectively with management, staff and other court personnel, and work independently, and/or as part of a team.

Requirements:

You should have a passion for both technology and business and pursue an IT-related undergraduate or graduate degree.

Education & Experience

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Fulltime student (12 hours) at local College or University

Knowledge & skills

  • General knowledge of Microsoft Windows 11
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Must have a strong work ethic, organization skills, the desire to learn and is not afraid to ask questions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times

Working Conditions

  • Most duties performed in usual office conditions with standard office equipment, computer, copier, printer, fax, and phone.
  • Use of computer terminal requiring frequent mental and visual attention; and able to lift\carry ~50lbs servers\power supply
