Public Information Specialist
The Louisiana Supreme Court is seeking an experienced Public Information Specialist to serve as a liaison between the Court and the general public, media, government and community organizations for specific court information and outreach efforts. This position reports to the Deputy Judicial Administrator of Community Relations in the Judicial Administrator’s Office and works as a valuable member of the Community Relations team and other Court offices to execute communication strategies that align with the Court’s objectives and foster positive public relations.
Responsibilities Include:
- Media Relations & Communications: May assist with or write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other Court communications to inform the public and media about the Court's activities, rulings, and initiatives.
- Public Engagement & Outreach: Serve as a primary point of contact and respond as needed for public records requests, media inquiries, and public information requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Content Creation & Editing: Write and edit press releases, newsletters, fact sheets, reports and publications that communicate the Court's work to the public and stakeholders.
- Event Representation: Represent the Louisiana Supreme Court at public events, including speaking engagements, tours, and community outreach programs, effectively communicating the Court’s mission and vision.
- Assist with special projects or tasks as directed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Business, Law, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of five years of professional level experience in media/public relations, marketing, journalism, or communications.
- Skills: Requires exceptional writing, editing, and oral communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign and Photoshop, is preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
